“Save Yourself If You Can” — Mahdi Shehu Fires Back at NNPCL Boss Over ‘Under Attack’ Claim

ABUJA — Human rights activist, Mahdi Shehu, has reacted sharply to the recent outcry by the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan Ojuluri, who claimed he was “under attack.”

Ojuluri made the disclosure on Thursday, August 28, 2025, while receiving a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, at the company’s headquarters in Abuja. His comments, reported by DAILY POST, quickly ignited widespread debate across social media and within political circles.

In a swift and terse response posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, Shehu dismissed the NNPCL boss’s concerns, hinting that he was reaping the consequences of complicity within Nigeria’s troubled oil sector.

“You are one of them. Save yourself if you can,” Shehu wrote.

The activist’s blunt retort underscores growing public anger over allegations of corruption, mismanagement, and entrenched power struggles within the petroleum industry.

Although Ojuluri did not provide specific details about the alleged “attack,” analysts suggest his remarks could signal intensifying internal battles or external pressures linked to ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector.

With Shehu’s intervention, the controversy surrounding Ojuluri’s statement has deepened, placing both the NNPCL and its leadership under heightened scrutiny.
