The Kremlin has strongly denied reports that Russia is on the verge of completing a shipment of drones to Iran, describing the claims as misleading and unsubstantiated.
Speaking on Thursday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected a recent report by the Financial Times, which cited Western intelligence officials alleging that Moscow was finalizing drone deliveries to Tehran, with completion expected by the end of March.
“There are so many lies being spread by the media… Do not pay attention to them,” Peskov told reporters in response to questions.
Russia, a longstanding ally of Iran, has consistently denied providing direct military support to the country since tensions escalated following attacks by the United States and Israel earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the The Washington Post reported earlier in March that Moscow had shared sensitive intelligence with Tehran, including details on the locations of U.S. warships and aircraft operating in the region—claims that further underscore growing concerns among Western officials over deepening cooperation between Russia and Iran.
The conflicting accounts highlight the increasing information battle surrounding geopolitical alliances and military activity in the Middle East, as global tensions continue to rise.
