A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has cautioned activist and politician Omoyele Sowore against demanding the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In a fiery Facebook post titled “Final Warning to Omoyele Sowore,” Igbokwe described Kanu as a “butcher” responsible for widespread killings and chaos in Nigeria’s Southeast region.
According to him, Sowore’s decision to protest against Kanu’s detention is misguided, urging him to stay away from what he called “a dangerous matter.”
“Omoyele Sowore says he is marching to Aso Rock to protest against the detention of the butcher of the South East called Nnamdi Kanu. I have told him as a friend to run 440,” Igbokwe wrote.
“Nnamdi Kanu shed thousands of blood in the SE in 10 years. His men turned the region into a killing field—a place of anything goes. It was a useless enterprise that set the Igbo nation back by 50 years.”
Igbokwe, who hails from Nnewi in Anambra State, said he personally suffered losses due to the violent activities linked to IPOB, claiming his home was affected.
He further warned Sowore to conduct proper research before lending his voice to the cause, insisting that the Biafra struggle had brought nothing but bloodshed and disgrace to the Southeast.
“Sowore, Sowore, Sowore, how many times did I call you? Run 440 away from this matter,” Igbokwe warned.
