Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has come to the defense of his compatriot Joao Felix after the forward faced heavy criticism for joining the Saudi Pro League.
Felix completed a £26million switch to Al Nassr this summer — a deal that could rise to £43m — after his loan spell at Chelsea. The move sparked widespread debate, with many questioning why a 25-year-old talent would leave European football for the Middle East so early in his career.
Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Felix has hit the ground running, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and adding an assist in five appearances.
However, the Portuguese podcast Chuveirinho recently slammed the transfer, calling it a poor career decision. Ronaldo, clearly unimpressed by the commentary, fired back on Instagram.
“Idiots don’t understand anything about football, yet they still give their opinions,” the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote in response to a clip from the show.
Ronaldo’s fiery defense adds to the growing narrative that Saudi Arabia is now a serious destination for top football stars, with Felix’s early form only strengthening that argument.
