A Senator representing Rivers East, Allwell Onyesoh, has declared that he and his political allies are determined to move the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Onyesoh, who recently defected from the PDP to the APC, accused the opposition party of failing to appreciate Wike’s contributions, insisting that efforts were underway to ensure the former Rivers State governor leaves the PDP.
Speaking in a video circulating on social media, the lawmaker described Wike as his political leader and vowed not to allow the PDP to “destroy or frustrate” him.
“Wike is our leader and we are going to pull him out of that party. He has done so much for the PDP and they are not even appreciative of him. We won’t allow him to remain there,” Onyesoh said.
He added, “We are going to drag him out. One of these days, we are going to his house to pull him out of that party. They have used him enough.”
Onyesoh credited Wike for his emergence as a senator, noting that the minister played a key role in supporting his political ambition.
“He is my leader and he will continue to be my leader. I became a senator because of my dreams for my people, and he assisted me in realizing that. I won’t allow any group of charlatans to destroy or frustrate him,” he stated.
The Rivers lawmaker further criticized the PDP, describing the party as weak and lacking the capacity for revival.
“For me, the PDP is lying frustrated on the ground, and I don’t see anything in the nearest future that can resurrect it. New warlords are emerging where the old ones stopped,” he said.
Onyesoh concluded by urging Wike to join his allies in the APC, arguing that it was time to stop pretending that there were no rules guiding political conduct.
The comments have added fresh fuel to speculations surrounding Wike’s political future amid ongoing tensions within the PDP.
