The Rivers State House of Assembly has invited nine commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Siminalayi Fubara for screening as part of steps to reconstitute the state executive council.
The nominations come months after the dissolution of the previous cabinet, following a political truce reached in February in Abuja between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
In a formal letter signed by the Clerk of the House, Emeka Amadi, PhD, the Assembly directed the nominees to submit all required documentation ahead of their screening. The documents include 40 copies of their curriculum vitae, photocopies of academic and professional credentials, as well as evidence of tax compliance.
The nominees listed for screening are Professor Datonye Alasia, Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mrs. Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, Esq., Mr. Lekue Kenneth, Otonye TKD Amachree, Esq., and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
All submissions are to be made at the Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt.
The screening process is expected to pave the way for the formation of a new cabinet as the administration moves to stabilize governance following months of political tension in the oil-rich state.
