The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has formally welcomed Governor Siminalayi Fubara into the party, pledging unwavering support for his administration.
The state APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, made the assurance on Friday during a brief ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where he officially registered the governor as a member of the ruling party.
Okocha disclosed that he acted on the directive of the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, to personally issue Governor Fubara his party membership card. He described the assignment as a “holy one” and congratulated the governor on his decision to join the APC.
According to the state chairman, the party leadership was satisfied with the reasons advanced by Governor Fubara for his defection, assuring him of the party’s readiness to stand by him at all times.
“The APC in Rivers State will always be at your beck and call,” Okocha said, while reaffirming the party’s commitment to supporting the governor’s leadership.
The formal registration was conducted by the APC State Secretary, Eric Nwibani.
Several top party figures and stakeholders witnessed the event, including the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo; members of the APC State Executive Council; former Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo; and other prominent party leaders.
