Pro-Atiku Group Expels Abba, Former VP’s Son, Over APC Defection

0

A pro-Atiku Abubakar group has officially expelled Abba, the former vice president’s son, following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mai Bakari, convener of the Atiku Haske Organisation, announced the decision in a statement on Sunday, emphasizing that Abba has no authority to direct the group’s political alignment.

“Abba is not the founder or originator of the Atiku Haske Organisation. He neither contributed financially to the group’s activities nor holds its registration certificate. As such, he has no locus to instruct the group on which party or candidate to support,” Bakari said.

Bakari explained that the group invited Abba to join but he is subject to their regulations. “He has evidently fallen short of expectations and has been expressly dismissed as a member. The Atiku Haske Organisation will not follow him to any other party, including the APC. Our commitment is to move en masse from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), aligning with Atiku’s recent political trajectory,” the statement added.

Abba had defected to the ruling APC on Thursday, directing his political coordinators and members to support President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda. Atiku, who recently joined the ADC in pursuit of his 2027 presidential ambition, described his son’s move as a personal decision.
