The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains calm and focused despite recent threats reportedly issued by former United States President Donald Trump over Nigeria’s security situation.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing State House correspondents after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Idris, President Tinubu is committed to strengthening national security and ensuring the safety of all citizens, regardless of ethnic or religious background.
“Mr. President is calm. He is looking at the whole situation; he is looking at the ways and means of ensuring that the international community understands what we have been doing,” Idris said.
The minister added that President Tinubu has been proactive in revitalizing the country’s security architecture, citing recent changes in the leadership of the armed forces.
“Only last week or two weeks ago, Mr President, in his own desire to rekindle the security architecture of the country, reinvigorated the hierarchy of the armed forces. A new Chief of Defence Staff and other service chiefs were appointed,” he noted.
Idris emphasized that the government remains focused on restoring peace and stability, adding that the President’s ongoing reforms are already yielding positive results.
“The issues raised by the United States are not being ignored. Mr President has been working assiduously to ensure that Nigeria remains a safe and secure nation for all citizens,” he said.
