Barkin Ladi, Plateau State – Dickson Chollom, a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly representing Barkin Ladi, has declared that the term “unknown gunmen” is no longer appropriate for recent violent attacks in the area.
Chollom, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, made the remarks during a visit to Heipang District, where he offered condolences and gathered information following an attack that left three dead and one seriously injured.
The victims have been identified as Marvin Choji, 23; Bitrus Choji, 24; and Daniel Dung, 59. Stephen Davou, 48, sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical attention.
According to a statement released by his Senior Strategic Media and Communication Adviser, George Lambert, one suspect has been arrested and has made confessional statements implicating others involved in the attack.
“We will not use the term ‘unknown gunmen’ anymore. One of the people involved has been caught and he has disclosed the whereabouts of others who participated in this terrible attack,” Chollom said.
He urged security agencies to publicly share investigation results, including confessions, identities of the perpetrators, and their detention locations, to assure citizens that justice is being pursued. Chollom also called on the Plateau State Commissioner of Justice to ensure a thorough prosecution.
“This is not business as usual. The people need to know the truth, and those responsible must be held fully accountable under the law,” he added.
