A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Kabiru Turaki has challenged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to carry out his threat of sealing its operational office in Abuja.
The development comes amid rising tensions within the opposition party following comments made by Wike during his monthly media briefing earlier this week. The FCT Minister questioned the legitimacy of the Turaki-led faction and challenged members of the group to publicly identify their operational base if they truly existed.
Wike had further warned that any property being used for what he described as unauthorized party activities could be shut down by relevant authorities.
Reacting to the remarks, Ibrahim Abdullahi, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the PDP and private principal secretary to Kabiru Turaki, dismissed the minister’s claims, insisting that the faction has been operating openly from a known location.
“We have been operating from an office,” Abdullahi stated, maintaining that the group has nothing to hide and remains committed to its activities within the party.
The latest exchange highlights the deepening divisions within the PDP as rival blocs continue to battle for influence ahead of future political realignments.
