PDP Denies Forgery Claim, Says Anyanwu Personally Signed Convention Letter Before Governors

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted allegations of signature forgery leveled by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that Senator Anyanwu personally signed the letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) notifying it of the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to Ologunagba, the letter — along with several other official documents — was duly signed by Anyanwu just hours before the 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on August 25.

He emphasized that the signing took place in the presence of top party figures, including Governors Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), as well as former Minister Tanimu Turaki and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, among others.

Ologunagba further revealed that during the NEC meeting, Governor Bala Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, confirmed that all relevant letters, including the one to INEC, had been properly endorsed.
