The Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to order the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to restore peace in the Southeast region.

In a statement issued on Friday, Pastor Giwa said the continued detention of Kanu, despite a 2022 Appeal Court ruling that discharged and acquitted him, amounts to injustice and political persecution.

“Let me advise and beg President Bola Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, free Nnamdi Kanu from incarceration,” the cleric said. “If the federal government could pardon criminals who have killed many people, then there’s every reason to release Kanu.”

Giwa emphasized that true progress can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
“Peace is essential for achieving great results because it reduces stress, improves focus, and fosters creativity and better decision-making,” he added.

The pastor urged the president to show fairness and compassion by granting Kanu freedom “in the interest of national unity and lasting peace.”
