Ibadan – Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed condolences to Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman of Arise Television, as well as the management and staff, following the tragic death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a staff member of the media house, who was killed during a robbery at her Abuja residence.
The governor’s statement, issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju, described the incident as a national loss.
“Somtochukwu was a thoroughbred professional who brought her best to the screen every time she was on air. Her death is unfortunate because she still had so much to offer the media world and the country,” Makinde said.
He urged her colleagues, family, and all Nigerians to find strength despite the tragedy. “Her death is not just a loss to her employers or family; it is a loss to all of us as a nation. I beseech everyone to look beyond our pains and work towards birthing a Nigeria where everyone will be safe,” he added.
The governor prayed that God grants repose to her soul and fortitude to those she left behind.
