Oyebanji Confident of APC Victory, Says 2026 Governorship Ticket Within Reach

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Tuesday expressed strong confidence in the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliver a credible governorship primary that will set the party on course for victory in the 2026 elections.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja shortly after appearing before the APC Screening Committee chaired by Tunji Olawuyi, Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his preparedness to clinch the party’s ticket at the primary slated for October 27.

The governor, who was the first aspirant to face the screening panel, arrived at the venue around 10 a.m. and had his credentials thoroughly assessed in a session that lasted about 15 minutes behind closed doors.

Commending the party for putting necessary structures in place, Oyebanji said the screening exercise was fair, transparent, and crucial in ensuring a credible process. He urged the national leadership of the APC to provide a level playing field for all aspirants who have scaled through the screening stage to present their manifestos to party members.

“I must commend the APC for putting this structure in place. It will save the party from a lot of problems. I have absolute confidence that the party will get it right,” he said.

He further stressed that the exercise was only the beginning of a wider process that includes an appeal committee, a congress committee, and eventually the election proper. According to him, unity after the primaries is paramount for the party’s success.

“Whoever emerges must be supported, because it is not just about the aspirants, it is about returning our party to power and serving the people,” the governor noted.

The screening committee is expected to attend to the four aspirants contesting for the APC ticket between Tuesday and Wednesday.
