Over 1,000 Kwankwasiyya, NNPP Members Dump Party for APC in Kano

No fewer than 1,000 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

The mass defection was announced in a statement on Sunday by Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin.

According to the statement, the defectors converged on the Fine Time Events Centre in Kano, where they were officially received into the APC fold.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Aminu Minjibir said their decision was driven by disappointment over the NNPP’s inability to meet the expectations of Kano residents, despite their active support for the movement in previous years.

“We worked hard for the success of the movement, but the NNPP has failed to deliver meaningful change to the people,” Minjibir said. “We have therefore decided to join the APC to contribute to the development of our state and country.”

The group further explained that their defection was inspired by what they described as the impactful leadership and interventions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Barau I. Jibrin.

While receiving the new members, Senator Jibrin commended their decision, describing it as both wise and timely.

He assured them of a sense of belonging within the APC, emphasizing that the party remains the largest political movement in Africa, dedicated to improving the lives of Nigerians.

“This is a family that welcomes everyone who shares in our vision for a better Nigeria,” Jibrin said. “The APC is focused on unity, progress, and genuine service to the people.”

He also urged other residents of Kano to join the ruling party to support ongoing efforts toward the development of the state and the nation at large.
