ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Osun, Borno, and Lagos states are leading the pack in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), with millions of Nigerians — particularly youths — taking advantage of the pre-online registration platform.
According to updated statistics released by the Commission on Tuesday, a total of 5,385,060 Nigerians have completed pre-online registration as of Week 5, while 764,695 have completed physical registration as of Week 4.
Of the pre-online registrations, 2,799,844 are female and 2,585,216 are male, while 3,604,668 are youths aged 18–34, with students making up 1,354,274 of the figure. Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) account for 114,713 registrations.
For physical registration, INEC reported that 418,750 females and 345,945 males have completed the process. Youths constitute the majority with 565,927 registrants, while students number 279,172 and PWDs account for 10,838.
A state-by-state breakdown shows that Osun leads with 578,904 online registrants (10.75%), followed by Borno with 561,666 (10.43%) and Lagos with 530,180 (9.85%). At the bottom of the list, Enugu recorded just 2,931 (0.05%), Abia 4,608 (0.09%), and Edo 9,670 (0.18%).
INEC urged eligible citizens yet to register to take advantage of both the online and physical platforms, stressing that the CVR exercise is critical in ensuring widespread participation in future elections.
