The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun West Senatorial District has inaugurated a 100-member Election Monitoring and Mobilisation Committee ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, as part of efforts to safeguard the electoral process and secure victory for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
The committee was inaugurated in Ile-Ogbo, Ayedire Local Government Area, by APC leaders, including the party’s Osun West senatorial candidate, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, and the district chairman, Akintola Omolaoye.
Addressing members of the committee, Ogunbiyi described the initiative as a strategic step towards ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the election process.
He noted that election disputes in Nigeria often end up in court, making proper documentation of electoral activities essential.
“In Nigeria, when election results are declared, litigation often follows. There is always a need for clear documentary evidence when you go to court,” he said.
According to Ogunbiyi, the committee comprises 100 members drawn from the 10 local government areas in Osun West, with 10 representatives from each council. He added that members were carefully selected based on their educational background and understanding of electoral processes.
He explained that the committee would monitor the movement of election materials from local government distribution centres to polling units, establish a situation room for real-time coordination, promptly report irregularities, and document activities from electoral offices to collation centres.
“These people in Osun West are tasked with ensuring that all necessary evidence is provided. That is why we set up this monitoring committee,” Ogunbiyi added.
Also speaking, APC Osun West Chairman, Akintola Omolaoye, expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation and deliver victory at the polls.
He said the district had already achieved significant progress in its mobilisation efforts, estimating that about 80 per cent of the groundwork needed for electoral success had been completed.
“We don’t want to leave any stone unturned, and that is why we set up this committee today,” Omolaoye said.
He urged committee members to conduct themselves peacefully during the election, protect party supporters from intimidation, and ensure that the APC’s victory is secured through lawful and democratic means.
Omolaoye also cautioned against violence, stressing that the party’s success must be determined by the will of the electorate.
