Osimhen’s Value Dips to €75m from €120m

Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, has seen a dip in his market value — yet he remains Nigeria’s most valuable footballer and one of Africa’s brightest stars on the global stage.

According to data from football statistics website Transfermarkt, Osimhen’s current market value stands at €75 million, a decline from his all-time high of €120 million during his peak years at Napoli.

The valuation chart tracing the 26-year-old’s career tells a story of grit and growth — from his early struggles in Germany to becoming one of Europe’s deadliest strikers.

Osimhen began his European journey at Wolfsburg, where his market value barely crossed €1 million. After limited opportunities in the Bundesliga, he moved to Charleroi in Belgium, where his goal-scoring exploits doubled his worth and opened new doors.

His transfer to Lille in France proved pivotal. Within a single season, his performances in Ligue 1 and the Europa League skyrocketed his value to nearly €50 million, attracting the attention of top European clubs.

In 2020, Osimhen made a record-breaking move to Napoli, and over the next three seasons, he evolved into one of Europe’s elite finishers, guiding the club to their first Serie A title in more than 30 years. His explosive pace, strength, and consistency propelled his value to a record €120 million in 2023 — the highest ever for a Nigerian player.

However, 2024 brought challenges. A mix of injuries, Napoli’s poor form, and transfer speculations saw his value take a dip. His permanent move to Galatasaray, following an initial loan, stabilised his market worth at around €75 million.

Despite the decline, Osimhen remains one of Africa’s most valuable footballers, second only to Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and still ahead of global stars like Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmous.

For Nigerian football fans, Osimhen’s journey — from humble beginnings to global recognition — remains a story of resilience, ambition, and national pride.
