Senator Adams Oshiomhole has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to resist mounting pressure to join the 2027 presidential race, warning that doing so could damage his hard-earned legacy.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the former APC national chairman insisted that Jonathan’s political relevance is more secure outside the presidency.
“How can Jonathan be a threat? We defeated him before, when PDP was truly PDP. If a man had PDP at its peak, I think it is only his enemies that will push him into the ring,” Oshiomhole said.
He argued that Jonathan, who lost the 2015 presidential election to Muhammadu Buhari, has found peace and relevance in his post-presidency role.
“If I were him, I’d maintain this status and spend the rest of my life consolidating that relevance, which he has already found,” Oshiomhole added.
The APC senator further claimed that Jonathan would stand no chance against the ruling party if he decided to contest in 2027.
