I Warned Nigerians Against Supporting Tinubu’s ‘Emilokan’ Brand Of Politics – Pastor Bakare

0

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has advised his parishioners not to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Emilokan” politics.

Emilokan, a Yoruba phrase that means ‘It’s my turn,’ gained popularity during President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for the 2023 elections. Bakare defined ’emilokan’ as an authoritarian propensity.

“I’m reminded of the warning that I issued to Nigerians in January 2023 in my address titled, ‘Bridging the Gap Between Politics and Governance,'” the cleric stated. “I warned that the politics of entitlement, the’emilokan’ type of politics, would breed an imperium presidency, one that would slide towards dictatorship and be intolerant of dissent.”

Bakare ran in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries last year, which delivered Tinubu as the party’s flagbearer.
