The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has promised to step in over the lingering face-off between Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, and the Federal Government.
The monarch gave this assurance during a closed-door meeting with Igboho at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, where both men discussed the activist’s ordeals and the path forward.
According to a statement from Igboho’s media office, the 40-minute meeting also addressed the rising insecurity in the South West and fresh threats by bandits in parts of Kwara State.
Igboho, who had been declared wanted under the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari after a raid on his Soka home in July 2021, commended the Olubadan’s leadership and congratulated him on his ascension to the throne.
He further expressed readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to strengthen security in the South West, noting that peace and stability are essential for meaningful development.
“Olubadan has been a father figure to me since his days as governor. His reign will no doubt promote peace, unity, and progress across Yorubaland,” Igboho said.
