The Ogun State Government has sealed four factories in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area for breaching environmental regulations.

The affected companies are Aristocrate Industries Limited, Plenco Industries Limited, Nanfang Industrial Limited, and Xinphang Plastic Limited.

Special Adviser to the Governor on the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Farouk Akintunde, disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview with newsmen in his office at Abeokuta.

According to Akintunde, Nanfang Industrial Limited and Plenco Industries Limited were shut down for failing to install effluent treatment plants, leading to the discharge of untreated wastewater into the environment.

He added that Xinphang Plastic Limited, a plastic recycling firm, and Aristocrate Industries Limited, which produces flexible packaging materials, were sealed for operating without the necessary government approvals and for denying OGEPA officials access to their facilities.

Akintunde condemned the companies’ disregard for environmental laws, describing their actions as hazardous to public health and the environment. He warned that the government would not hesitate to take stricter actions against any facility found endangering the ecosystem.
