Ogun LG Breaks Ground on N3.5bn Truck Park to Boost Jobs

Odogbolu Local Government Chairman, Dr. Babatunde Diya, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to driving economic growth through strategic investments, job creation, and infrastructure development.

Speaking on Friday during the groundbreaking of a N3.5 billion truck park along the Ijebu-Ode–Benin Expressway, Diya described the project as a transformative initiative aimed at modernising local infrastructure and enhancing the council’s internally generated revenue.

“This N3.5bn Odogbolu Truck Stop Project represents a monumental stride toward modernising our local infrastructure, expanding the economy, and creating jobs,” Diya said. “This ultramodern facility will feature parking lots, fuel stations, maintenance bays, hotels, restaurants, drivers’ lodges, and recreational spaces, and is expected to create over 300 direct and indirect jobs. It will empower our youths, attract investors, and position Odogbolu as a logistics and investment hub.”

The project is strategically aligned with the emerging Gateway International Airport corridor, positioning the area as a commercial and transport powerhouse in Southwest Nigeria.

Mr. Oyeyemi Oke, Deputy CEO of TGroup and 1st TruckStops, highlighted the critical role of the truck park in supporting trade and logistics. “Trade cannot thrive without logistics, and logistics cannot thrive without infrastructure. The Odogbolu Truck Stop is set to become the backbone of trade along the 49km Sagamu–Benin Expressway,” he said, noting that construction alone would generate at least 300 jobs.

Oluwaseun Mamoye, Managing Director of TruckBus and Odogbolu TruckStops, described the initiative as a game-changer for the state. “Every truck that parks, every driver that rests, and every business that operates here contributes to a cycle of productivity and recurring revenue. With Nigeria’s road haulage industry valued in billions, the opportunity before us is immense,” Mamoye stated.

Support for the project also came from Olufemi Ogunbanwo, representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, and Hon. Dennis Ogunnaike, Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youth Development and Technology Innovation, both praising the project as a forward-thinking investment with lasting benefits for the community.

With indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty vehicles often causing accidents and traffic gridlocks on Nigeria’s major highways, the Odogbolu Truck Park aims to provide a safe, organised, and revenue-generating solution that blends economic growth with road safety.
