Ogun, FG Seal Landmark Deal to Generate 1,100MW Solar Power

Ogun State Government has entered into a landmark partnership with two leading Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs) to generate about 1,100 megawatts (MW) of solar power — a major step toward strengthening the state’s industrial base and advancing Nigeria’s clean energy goals.

Under the agreement, Tranos Contracting Limited will establish a 600MW solar panel manufacturing and battery pack plant in Ogun, while Vision Gas and Power Limited will set up a 500MW solar panel manufacturing facility with the potential to expand to 1 gigawatt (GW).

The partnership was formalized in Abuja at the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025, held from October 14 to 15 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, under the auspices of Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media & Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the forum—convened by the Federal Ministry of Power in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), NASENI, and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE)—serves as Nigeria’s leading platform for shaping the nation’s renewable energy future.

With the theme, “Implementing the Nigeria First Policy: Facilitating Local Content Development and Manufacturing in the Renewable Energy Ecosystem (NREIF 2025)”, the forum aims to promote local content, attract global investors, and strengthen industrial capacity in renewable energy manufacturing.

“These partnerships will spotlight Ogun State as a hub of innovation, industrial readiness, and sustainable growth,” Akinmade said. “They align with our vision to attract strategic investments, create jobs, diversify our economy, and advance environmental sustainability.”

He added that by boosting local capacity for clean energy production, Ogun State is “reducing dependence on imports and laying the foundation for inclusive industrial development.”
