The Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is set to officially inaugurate a newly constructed motor park named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ebute Metta, Lagos.
The facility, known as the Lagos State Council Motor Park, comprises the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Motor Park and a dedicated Emergency Unit designed to provide rapid response support for union members. It is situated along Atitebi, Apapa Road, Ebute Metta.
The commissioning ceremony will be led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while the Lagos NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, is spearheading the project on behalf of the union.
The development was disclosed by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter). According to the announcement, the Lagos NURTW leadership has concluded arrangements for the formal opening of the facility.
The motor park is expected to promote a more structured transport system within the axis, while the emergency unit aims to enhance welfare and safety support for NURTW members operating in the area.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commissioning of the project underscores continued collaboration between the Lagos State Government and transport stakeholders in efforts to improve infrastructure and operational standards across the sector.
The decision to name the facility after President Tinubu reflects a broader pattern of public infrastructure projects being dedicated in his honour since he assumed office in May 2023.
Additional details regarding the commissioning ceremony are anticipated in the coming days.
