NNPCL Promises Swift Revival of Port Harcourt, Warri, Kaduna Refineries

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reaffirmed its commitment to reviving the nation’s three major refineries located in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.

According to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Bayo Ojulari, the company has entered the next phase of the refinery rehabilitation process — which involves the selection of technical partners and the completion of necessary agreements to upgrade the facilities.

Ojulari made this known in a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.

He expressed optimism about the ongoing efforts, emphasizing that the company’s top priority remains ensuring that the refineries operate efficiently and contribute to Nigeria’s economic recovery.

“We are filled with determination! We are looking ahead with optimism to ensure our refineries operate effectively. We are dedicating significant time to a detailed review and are eager to implement our insights,” Ojulari wrote.

He added that NNPCL’s focus is on national prosperity rather than personal gain.

“What fuels our drive is the understanding that the prosperity of the Nigerian states and the future success of Nigeria will always take precedence over any individual interests. This very commitment inspires us as we anticipate creating sustainable solutions for our refineries in the near future,” he stated.

The Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries have been shut down since May 2025 for technical reviews as part of ongoing efforts to restore full refining capacity and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
