NNPCL Boss Raises Alarm: “Powerful Forces Threatening My Life Over Reforms”

ABUJA — The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has alleged that his life and those of his management team are under serious threat following the sweeping reforms he introduced in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

Ojulari, who disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, said his only “offense” was carrying out the mandate of President Bola Tinubu to revive Nigeria’s ailing refineries and reposition the petroleum industry for efficiency.

He accused unnamed “powerful elements” of plotting to oust him from office, warning that entrenched interests opposed to change are behind the threats.

The NNPCL boss sounded the alarm while receiving the leadership of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, at the company’s headquarters in Abuja.

Ojulari, however, vowed not to be intimidated, stressing that the reforms would continue despite resistance.
