The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has projected a mix of dust haze, sunshine and isolated thunderstorms across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze over parts of Kebbi and Kano states in the northern region on Monday, with horizontal visibility expected to range between 2km and 5km. Other northern states are forecast to experience sunny and hazy conditions throughout the period.

For the central region, NiMet anticipates moderate dust haze over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State, with similar visibility levels of 2km to 5km. The remaining states in the region are expected to have sunny and hazy skies.

In the southern region, the agency forecast sunny skies with a few patches of cloud, alongside the possibility of afternoon or evening thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall over parts of Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

On Tuesday, slight dust haze is expected to persist over parts of Kano and Kebbi states, while the rest of the northern region will continue under sunny and hazy skies. The central region is forecast to remain sunny and hazy, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Plateau State during the afternoon and evening.

NiMet also predicted sunny skies with patches of cloud across the southern region on Tuesday, with prospects of afternoon or evening thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

By Wednesday, the agency envisaged sunny and hazy conditions across the northern and central regions. In the south, sunny skies with few cloud patches are expected, alongside possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms with light rainfall over parts of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

NiMet cautioned that dust particles remain in suspension and advised members of the public, especially those with asthma and other respiratory conditions, to take necessary precautions. The agency also urged motorists to exercise caution while driving under rainy conditions.

Airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet to aid effective flight planning. Residents were encouraged to stay updated through NiMet’s official weather reports and its website, www.nimet.gov.ng.
