Electricity available on Nigeria’s national grid has fallen to 5,128.50 megawatts as of October 2025, according to fresh data released by the Nigerian Independent System Operator.

The figure marks a 12.32 percent decline from the peak of 5,801.84MW recorded on March 4, 2025, underscoring the nation’s persistent power supply challenges affecting an estimated 250 million citizens.

The latest development comes weeks after the national grid collapsed on September 10, 2025, before being restored hours later.

Meanwhile, amid growing public frustration over unstable electricity, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced his intention to vie for the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 elections.
