“Nigeria Worse Off Than 2023” — Baba-Ahmed Criticizes Tinubu

Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has raised serious concerns over the current state of Nigeria, asserting that the country is facing deeper challenges than when the administration took office in 2023.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed said the situation across key sectors, particularly security and the economy, has deteriorated significantly. He argued that the scale and intensity of violence in parts of the country have worsened beyond expectations.

According to him, the administration came into power with strong promises to address insecurity and improve the quality of life for Nigerians. However, he maintained that those expectations have not been met nearly three years into the tenure.

Baba-Ahmed further suggested that even the President is aware of the gap between the promises made and the current realities on ground, especially regarding safety and economic conditions.

He also criticized the timing of a recent official trip to the United Kingdom by the President and members of his cabinet, describing it as inappropriate given recent security incidents. He referenced a deadly attack in Borno State that occurred shortly before the trip, noting that such developments highlight the urgency of addressing the nation’s security challenges.

The remarks add to the growing public discourse surrounding governance, security, and economic stability under the current administration.
