Abuja – In a significant move to expand access to quality education and bolster Nigeria’s capacity in science, technology, and innovation, the Federal Government has appointed Prof. Adeola Oshikoya as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe; Dr. Angela Ajala as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE); and announced leadership for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic, Abuja.

Presenting the letters of appointment in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Alausa, emphasized the careful selection of the appointees, citing their exemplary service and achievements across Nigeria’s educational institutions. “Every child in this country deserves access to the highest quality education comparable to global standards. To whom much is given, much is expected. You have been chosen from millions of Nigerians to serve your country, and this recognition extends to your families as well,” he stated.

Alausa noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains focused on building a stronger education system capable of producing skilled manpower critical for national development. Each newly created institution has been granted N2 billion in take-off funds to establish foundational administrative and academic structures.

The minister urged the new leaders to provide visionary leadership that will define the identity and long-term growth of their institutions. Strategically located, the Federal University of Science and Technology in Epe and the polytechnic in Abuja are positioned to harness regional economic potential and human resources.

He highlighted priority focus areas for these institutions, including technological innovation, renewable energy, climate change response, disaster risk management, and other research fields vital to Nigeria’s development. Alausa also congratulated Dr. Ajala, emphasizing the pivotal role of teacher education in strengthening the country’s education system.

These appointments mark a strategic step in Nigeria’s effort to elevate educational standards and foster innovation across the nation.
