On Thursday, it was reported that a church building collapsed at about 6:45 p.m., killing two people inside the ill-fated edifice under construction, while four others were trapped beneath the wreckage.
The building in Ikirun, Osun State, caved in while workers were still on site to finish the day’s work, killing two people and trapping four others under the wreckage.
The trapped people were rescued by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel and transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Osun NSCDC Command, verified the occurrence and stated that all four of the rescued people were in critical condition at the time of writing: “Two women died this morning, one of them being the owner of the building.”
The cause of the collapse is still being looked into.
