Senate In Rowdy Session Over Motion To Suspend Keyamo’s Screening

0

Darlington Nwokocha, Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, submitted a resolution to suspend the ministerial screening of Festus Keyamo, a ministerial nominee from Delta State.

According to Gatekeepers News, Nwokocha’s motion was seconded by his colleague from the Abia-South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe.

Following that, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the proposal to a voice vote, but legislators were divided on the issue. The crimson chamber erupted into a raucous session right away.

Keyamo was accused by Nwokocha of insulting the 9th National Assembly and accusing the previous Assembly of corruption.

Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), served as Minister of State for Labour and Productivity during ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
