Three additional Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) have been confirmed by the Senate.
The candidates were among the ten RECs that President Bola Tinubu had previously named and sent to the Senate for confirmation.
Bunmi Omoseyindemi from Lagos, Abubakar Dambo from Zamfara, and Anugbum Onuoha from Rivers were the RECs who were confirmed following a screening by senators in the upper house of parliament on Thursday.
The motion for their confirmation was made by Opeyemi Bamidele, the majority leader of the Senate.
Isah Shaka Ehimeakne (Edo), Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ekiti), Abubakar Ahmed Ma’aji (Gombe), Shehu Wahab (Kwara), Aminu Idris (Nasarawa), Mohammed Sadiq (Niger), and Etekamba Umoren (Akwa Ibom), an ally of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, are the seven nominees that were examined and confirmed on Wednesday.
