0

Abuja—A two-storey residential building partially collapsed on Saturday morning in Abuja, leaving several people trapped under the rubble. The incident occurred beside the popular Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road (Sultan Dasuki Way) in Kubwa. The building, formerly known as Al-Hilal Hotel, had been converted into a hospital and later a residential apartment.

Emergency responders and security personnel were on the scene, but rescue efforts faced delays as cranes required for the operation had not arrived by 8:45 a.m., nearly two hours after the collapse.

Two individuals have been rushed to a nearby hospital, and a few others managed to escape on their own. One escapee reported that she woke up around 7 a.m. and, hearing cracking noises, quickly ran out of the house.

Security operatives are at the scene to maintain order and assist medical workers in the ongoing rescue mission.

Further details will be provided as they become available.
