Runcie Mike, the senior pastor of The Evening Church in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, passed away two days after presiding over the funeral of one of his congregants, the 36-year-old daughter of a well-known broadcaster.
The Nation reports that the pastor whose church is housed within the Tropicana Centre shopping mall in Uyo reportedly passed away on July 1 in Uyo.
He left behind a wife and two kids, and it was said that he passed away following a brief illness.
When the story first surfaced, many churchgoers believed it to be false. However, the church’s leadership later acknowledged the tragic situation.
“We ask the church of Christ to pray for us and his family during this difficult time,” the church said.
