ODIEC Chairman Expresses Concern Over Low Voter Turnout in Ondo Local Government Elections

0

The Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), Joseph Aremo, has expressed concern over the low voter turnout during Saturday’s local government elections in the state, describing the turnout as unencouraging. Aremo called on political parties to increase their efforts in educating and sensitizing the electorate ahead of future elections.

After monitoring the electoral process in Akure South, Akure North, and Ifedore local government areas, Aremo emphasized that ODIEC had taken proactive measures in the lead-up to the poll. He assured that the commission had made all necessary arrangements to ensure the timely deployment of both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials.

Despite these efforts, Aremo noted that the voter turnout did not meet expectations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Wilfred Afolabi, who observed the election in Akure metropolis, commended the people of the state for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the process.
