 Nigeria records 239 new cases of COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, disclosed in a late-night tweet on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 that Nigeria recorded 239 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Plateau State, which has recently become the epicenter of the pandemic in the country reported the highest number of cases with 116 while the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, ranked second with 33 new infections.

Other states with new cases include Lagos-19, Ekiti-12, Kaduna and Ogun-11, Ebonyi-8, Benue-7, Abia and Delta-5, Ondo-4, Edo-3, Imo and Osun-2, and Bauchi-1.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 54,247, with 42,010 persons discharged and 1,023 deaths.
