The Niger State House of Assembly has granted approval for Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s request to secure a ₦70 billion bond aimed at funding critical infrastructure projects across the state.
The approval came after the presentation of a detailed report by the House Standing Committee on Finance, chaired by Hon. Aliyu Sheshi Wushishi, who represents Wushishi Constituency.
In his presentation, Hon. Wushishi disclosed that the committee conducted a comprehensive review of the bond request, engaging key stakeholders including the Ministry of Finance, Niger State Planning Commission, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, and the Debt Management Office.
He revealed that the ₦70 billion request is part of a broader ₦100 billion NCNI Private Bond Issuance planned over a 10-year period.
Following the committee’s findings and recommendation, the House unanimously approved the request.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, directed the Clerk to formally transmit the resolution to the Executive arm of government.
