…Major boost for fuel accessibility, logistics, and Nigeria’s economic growth

LAGOS — In a bold move set to reshape Nigeria’s energy distribution landscape, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the commencement of nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel, starting August 15, 2025. The initiative is backed by free logistics support and a fleet of 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers.

The company, in an official statement, described the programme as a landmark effort aimed at eliminating logistics bottlenecks, reducing fuel costs, and supporting Nigeria’s economic development. Distribution will cover a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, telecommunications, aviation, and other large-scale fuel users, with the goal of enhancing accessibility and affordability across the country.

“To ensure a smooth take-off, Dangote Refinery has invested heavily in infrastructure, including the procurement of 4,000 new CNG-powered tankers. Additionally, we are setting up CNG daughter booster stations nationwide and deploying over 100 CNG logistics tankers to guarantee seamless product movement,” the statement read.

The refinery also announced a two-week credit facility for bulk buyers. Customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres will be eligible to access an additional 500,000 litres on credit, backed by a bank guarantee.

All petrol stations and fuel marketers purchasing directly from the Dangote Refinery will benefit from the free delivery service. The company projects that this will help reactivate dormant petrol stations, lower production and inflation costs, stimulate SMEs, and increase government revenue.

“This is more than just fuel distribution—it’s about revitalising communities, creating jobs, and fostering investor confidence,” the statement noted.

In alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Dangote Petroleum Refinery praised the Federal Government’s support, particularly the Naira-for-Crude initiative, which has contributed to price stability amid global oil market volatility.

The company has called on all key players—including marketers, manufacturers, and telecom operators—to register for participation in the programme. The registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification will run from June 16 to August 15, 2025.

“This initiative represents a major revolution in Nigeria’s midstream and downstream sectors,” the company emphasized. “We are committed to ensuring equitable fuel access for all Nigerians—urban and rural alike.”

Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaffirmed its dedication to being a national partner in progress, bringing global standards to bear on local challenges and contributing to a more sustainable energy future for the country.
