Lawan Musa Majakura, the sole representative of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Yobe State House of Assembly, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Majakura had defeated Ahmed Lawan Mirwa, the Speaker of the Assembly at the time, who had served in the House for twenty years and was the APC’s state representative for Nguru II.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, who welcomed the lawmaker into the party on Thursday, characterized Majakura as a youthful, energetic politician with enormous promise.
Buni said, “Politics is about service to the people, l am impressed with your commitment to serve your constituency effectively.
“I am also impressed with the calibre of people that accompany you to this event, it shows your acceptance by these groups of credible politicians” he said.
Majakura had earlier stated that the excellent work of the Buni administration in providing infrastructure to the people in his constituency had persuaded him to switch from the PDP to the APC.
He claimed that the development of housing estates, roads, hospitals, and other amenities had changed the character of the communities within his electorate.
