Kano Rejects FG’s Sharing Formula For N500bn Palliative

0

Kano State’s Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has objected to the federal government’s distribution scheme for the recently authorized N500 billion palliative.

The federal government had declared that it will employ the Bank of Industry to help micro businesses in all geopolitical regions.

Through his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, Governor Yusuf commented on the sharing formula and claimed that it was excessively biased in favor of Lagos state and the South-South zone at the expense of other states and zones.

The South-South Zone will receive 17% of the allocation, followed by Lagos (47%), he said, with other regions receiving much lower percentages.

During a meeting with representatives from the Kano Cooperative Society at the state government house, Yusuf declared, “This is unfair, unconstitutional, and illegal.” He urged the responsible parties to make amends and take the necessary legal measures against the offenders, including members of the National Assembly.
