JUST IN: Ogun workers suspend strike

Workers in Ogun State have called off their one-week warning strike following the agreement reached with labour unions after a marathon meeting with the officials of the state government.

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Emmanuel Bankole, announced this on Friday after long hours of meeting with the labour leaders and the government representatives, at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

While calling off the strike, Bankole who was flanked by leaders of other unions, said, “I want to urge our members across the state that we have been able to get the commitment of the government as to the welfare matters, hence, the strike is hereby called off, thank you”.

Reports gathered that the state government agreed to address workers’ demands which are; payment of minimum wage, gratuity among others.

The workers were then urged to return to their duty post immediately.
