A man who is yet to be identified has jumped into the lagoon beneath the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge. Eyewitnesses along the route corroborated the occurrence. According to reports, people have gathered to see how they might help with rescue attempts.
Temitope, one of the eyewitnesses, wrote, “Depression is real tbh. Someone just jumped into the Ikoyi link bridge water directly in front of me. I hope he doesn’t die before the rescue team arrives.”
Temitola, another person, tweeted: “Someone just jumped off the Ikoyi Link Bridge. People are exhausted fa.”
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, has also confirmed the event. “Our men are there,” Hundeyin stated, “controlling the crowd as other rescue teams arrive.”
