The appointment of Service Chiefs has been approved by Nigeria’s lower chamber, the House of Representatives after the new service chiefs passed the House’s screening.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the Ad-hoc Committee, which screened the nominees recently presented to the House by President Bola Tinubu, presented its findings to the Committee of the Whole House.

Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa (Chief of Defence Staff), Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff), and AVM Hassan Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff) are some of the service chiefs that have been confirmed.

Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House Adhoc Committee, stated that personnel of the Armed Forces must rigorously comply with the terms of the Appropriation Act and he also urged them to collaborate by sharing intelligence.
