Helicopter crashes into building in Oba-Akran Lagos

Today, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, an unidentified helicopter crashed into a building and erupted into flames in the Oba Akran neighbourhood of Ikeja, Lagos State.

The event occurred near the AP Filling Station and the United Bank For Africa in Oba Akran. According to eyewitnesses, the event occurred at 3.30 pm.

As of press time, it was unclear whether the chopper’s pilots had survived. It was also unclear whether there were any further casualties, as the rescue mission by first responders is still ongoing.

Men from the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service are on standby to help with any future emergency operations. According to the National Emergency Management Agency Lagos Office, two people have been rescued so far from the crash site.
