In his appearance on Channels Television on Monday June 19, 2023 to talk about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s removal of the fuel subsidy, Uzoma Abonta, a lawmaker at the 9th House of Assembly urged the 10th House of Assembly to be like the President and take actions without unnecessary consultations.

“Some people are blaming the President that he was too hasty to do the fuel subsidy removal. No, if he had started unnecessary consultations, he would have lost the political will to take action when it was important to do so. So, his decision to remove the subsidy was the right step in the right direction,” he said.

The congressman claimed that previous programs to ease the nation’s suffering had been created but were not successfully implemented due to the lack of political will, leading to their failure.

“Implementation and carrying out a desired result are currently our problems. So I want to express my gratitude to the President for having the political will to eliminate the subsidies. I also think the house would take the necessary action if he eventually allows that political will to trickle down,” he concludes.

He urged the 10th House of Assembly to be swift in signing bills into place that would make the lives of Nigerian citizens better. In his words, the have to “have political will like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
