FG’s commitment to sustaining NYSC Scheme remains - Sports Minister

Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has dismissed reports claiming National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme is set to be scrapped.

Nelsdaily reported that a bill seeking the scrap of the one-year mandatory scheme for all graduates passed second reading in the House of Representatives.

Addressing the retort on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, the Minister said the government is committed to sustaining the scheme.

Military regime of General Yakubu Gowon established NYSC on May 22, 1973, under Decree No. 24 of 1973 as a way of reconciling and reintegrating Nigerians after the civil war between July 6, 1967 and January 15, 1970.
