COVID-19: Rate of cases continue to drop

The COVID-19 positive cases in Nigeria has continued to drop drastically as the country recorded only 298 new cases of infection on Sunday, 16 August, 2020.

Lagos State which has always been the epicentre of the disease was dropped to third place in the latest report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, as Plateau State led with 108 new cases of infection.

The new cases were reported in 18 states.

Other states with their figures of new cases include Kaduna with 49, Lagos- 47, Ogun- 18, Osun- 17, FCT- 15, Ondo- 14, Edo- 8, Oyo- 6, Akwa Ibom- 4, Cross River- 4, Borno- 3, Ekiti- 2, and Bauchi, Kano and Rivers recorded 1 case each.

Till date, Nigeria has recorded a total of 49,068 confirmed cases, 36,497 discharged and 975 deaths.
